In 2024, Southeast Asian education unions led the way in promoting climate justice and a just transition framework through strong union leadership and collaboration. The examples from Malaysia, Indonesia and the Philippines showed that unions can raise wider climate consciousness among students and educators, and influence policies towards improving climate adaptation in the education sector.
More than 100 Southeast Asian educators gathered to discuss union strategies to raise awareness on the climate crisis and demand quality climate education for all at the 5th E4SD Climate Justice series last March 2025. The webinar also gave a recap of EIAP’s E4SD activities in Southeast Asia in 2024.
Registration is now open for the 3rd Educators for Climate Justice and Just Transition Conference, which will be held in Kathmandu, Nepal from 28 to 30 April 2025.
